RUTLEDGE DIRECT MALE LINEAGE

         Generation One - Edward Andrew Rutledge and Lydia Ann Lingle were married about 1866.[1]

Edward was born July 1846 in Indiana to Elias Robinson Rutledge and Eliza Jane Lester.[2] Edward died in 1905.[3]

 

         Generation Two - Elias Robinson Rutledge and Eliza Jane Lester were married about 10 Nov 1844 in Ripley County, Indiana.[4] Elias was born 12 Apr 1821 to Jacob Rutledge and Mary E. “Polly” Robinson.[5] See the proof argument for the identification of his parents. Elias died 21 July 1880.[6]

 

                Generation Three – Jacob Rutledge and Mary E. “Polly” Robinson were married 21 Nov 1816 in Harrison County, Kentucky.[7] Jacob was born 5 Feb 1793 probably to Peter Rutledge and Miriam.[8]

 

                Generation Four Peter Rutledge and Miriam (surname unknown) were married before 1788 in Maryland.[9] Peter was born 16 Feb 1760 in Maryland.[10] Peter states in his pension application that he lived in Maryland until the end of the war, moved to Kentucky, and then Indiana in 1820.  Peter died 29 May 1844.

 

                Generation Five – Peter’s father was born about 1740 and lived in Maryland in 1760.

A tombstone marked “Wife of Jacob” and dated died 4 Sept 1873 lies in Bradshaw Cemetery, Versailles, Ripley County, Indiana. Jacob’s stone is nearby and is dated Born, 5 Feb 1793 and died 31 Mar 1839.
